Hi Michael, hope you had a really good day. I have been trying to think of a way to keep all these Fant/Aunt Kim's and Uncle Scott's straight so I have come up with a system. I will go ahead and be the Numero Uno Aunt Kim, and the other's can decide on there own. As far as the Uncle Scott's, I have decided that once you read their BLOG, you and anyone else that knows my husband, will be able to figure out which one the BLOG is actually from.

I really, really miss you and everyone else. I wish I could be of more help to you and see you everyday. My Mom, Gramma Connie, asks about you everyday. If I talk to her a couple of times a day, then guess what, she asks about you a couple of times a day.

Another good day for Michael in Therapy. His student intern in PT is leaving today. We thank Melissa for all she has done to help Michael along on his journey. She has been awesome! Joy and I are working on the adoption papers for our faughters and fon. I hope we don't have a problem since it will be 2 mothers who live in separate houses adopting them. I hope we don't have to worry about a custody battle down the road.

The custody battle will be with our Mom, Sharon Theriault. She isn't giving us up as she stated in an earlier blog. But I think I have come up with an alternate plan...we can be adopted as nieces and nephews without a problem or we can be really old grandchildren- let me know what ya think. I say we take that root cause I love my Momma.

Happy Saturday, Dearest One...I see that maybe you went home today for a while. How wonderful! And what a Mother's Day gift for your mom! I think you are covered in gift department this year...can't think of anything she would want more than just little ol' you, Matt and Kelsey!

By the way, how about an update on Steve. I keep him in my prayers also and look forward to meeting him, too! (Hi, Steve!)

I just finished scrubbing my bathroom floor...see how exciting life is out here in CA? I found out it takes 11 replays of "Stand" to clean it. And, of course, while I was down on my knees, had to say a prayer for you...don't think the Lord minds WHERE the prayers are said.

I am thinking of you constantly, as is everyone else, and feel so much like I know you. It sounds like there is so much love and laughter in your hospital room, that I'm a little jealous I can't be there to be immersed in it also. However (!), when I DO see all of you, I am sure it will NOT be in the hospital and you will walk across the room to give me a big hug, cause I insist!

I do wish your mom and grammas a wonderful day tomorrow! I know they know how blessed they are! I love you, Mike. Have sweet dreams tonite and God Bless You!

Today was a good day for Michael. Gwen, his night nurse from ICU in Buffalo, came to visit him. She saw such a great improvement since she last saw him in ICU. Michael also got to come home for a visit. PaPa and dad were able to transfer him for the visit. His Uncle Scott, Aunt Kim, Kristen, Matt, and Steve came to visit him. Grandma Joy and I enjoyed having him home for the day.

Good morning, Mike! Wow...the pictures of you standing tall just make me want to laugh, cry, celebrate and warm my heart so much my chest aches! Thank you Lord!

I know by now you must just be chomping at the bit to GET MOVING! And I know it's so easy for the rest of us to say all the positive things to you, but in the end it still must be frustrating for you. BUT, please know that all the 'things' that all of us are writing are true and not just to make you 'feel better.' You ARE amazing and the fact that this horrible 'thing' took place less than 2 months ago and to see how far you have come (you REALLY have!) is such a promise to you that you WILL recover and you WILL be standing on your own in the future.

Hang in there, sweet Michael, and any frustration you feel, take it out in rehab! You are so loved and I can't wait for that big ol' hug with you in the future! You are my inspiration! The picture of you standing is incredible.. Right now I can't see through the tears of happiness for you!!!! Things are going right as they should..little bit at a time but at a steady pace.. keep pluggin away in rehab, and "BELIEVE"
What a great gift to mom not only to have you home for the day, but to see you stand the next day!!!
As for the car transfers..... they will get better each time and pretty soon they won't have to be done and YOU will getting in and out on your own!!!!!

Mike, your Nana was the secretary at the school where I work- Briarwood. I can remember you as a little boy- we went camping at Darian Lake and you all were there. I just wanted to tell you that all the teachers at Briarwood are following your progress and cheering you on. I will be sure to remind them to check the website and see your pictures- terrific! Mike, I love you and I love when Tim stands you in the standing frame. You have come so far and have so far to go. I know that it frustrates you that you can't actually stand on your own. I do believe that someday you will stand on your own and I will be there right beside you. I do believe. I have seen you grow each week. Keep working. Today was Michael's best day in therapy. He has accomplished so much in rehab at Strong. It will be with very mixed emotions that he will be leaving here on Thursday to go home and finish his road back to recovery as an out-patient. Unfortunately, Insurance makes the decision on how long he can be in rehab in the hospital. It will be great for him to get back home, but it also means he will be receiving less therapy. He will go to Clinton Crossings for 2 hours up to 3 days a week, but mom has a plan for a very intense in-home therapy. I know Michael is up to the challenge. He never ceases to amaze me with his determination and drive to make a full recovery. He has won the hearts of everyone who has met him here at Strong. He has made a lasting impression on all the medical people here as well as the other patients. I'm sure they will never forget him. He has brought lots of smiles to everyone he has met on this journey.

Michael is home. In fact, he is taking a nap in hiw own bed (not a hospital bed) in his new bedroom in the dining room. The room turned out really nice. Again, thanks to everyone for all the visits to the hospital, your encouragement during his therapy sessions, the cards, donations, kind thoughts, telephone calls, meals, gifts and love you have shown Michael thru this. It's because of all of you that he has come this far. It was hard for the hospital staff to say goodby to him. They have never had anyone work so hard or have so many visitors. Michael, you have made a lasting impression on so many people.

Thanks again for all of the laughs last night (as usual). I will keep in mind to never drink bath water, I now know what it does to someone.

As for things to do, I'm sure your mom will keep you busy with PT and OT. Plus floating in your pool with those arm band swimmies sound like fun when the weather gets warm. Good morning, Mike, and Happy Homecoming! Didn't it feel so good waking up at HOME this morning? Familiar sounds, smells and the HOME feeling that we all take so for granted! I wish so much I could come and visit! I've heard about your sense of humor...Josh makes me just laugh till I cry, so you two together would do me in...can't wait to experience that!

Too bad you aren't out here...102 today and everyone I know is CRANKY looking forward to the awful summer we will have. Too early for that awful heat...we get several days at a time of 106 and that really pushes everyone's buttons! But...you would be able to go in the pool! If you were here, I might even accept 102 just for you!

Just wanted to welcome you home and I have a feeling you 'ain't seen nothin' yet, honey' as far as rehab. I think your family has some real big plans for you, from the sounds of it. The thought of you even being the little bit discouraged kills ms because you are by far the STRONGEST person I've ever met. What's this I am reading about getting discouraged? You can't get down just because you feel frustrated or don't even think about giving up. It sounds like, from all these crazy blogs, your house is full of people that give you encouragement every day. You are a strong-willed and determined man. One who will conquer this. Remember, sometimes you may feel like you haven't made any accomplishments but you should remember where you have come and how far you have come in such a short amount of time. Remember--Rome wasn't built in a day. You need to take each day as it comes and face the challenge head on. Never let yourself get discouraged! We love you and will write more this weekend. Hi Mike Bliss,

Boy oh boy what tangled webs Fant Nik weaves. I'm going to keep it real, no frontin'...Fant Nik is a hater. The porch thing - was funny - but the truth of the matter is I do eat on my porch - because it is a summer room - it isn't a front stoop like she wants people to believe. I gotta give her props for being funny though. Poor thing needs some positives to build her self esteem up - You go girl - Fant Nik rules, Fant Nik is an awesome blogger - I hope she feels better now.
She is so profound too. That whole thing about tomorrow being a new day...wow, now that is deep. I wonder if she is related to Socrates?

Tell her to come up with her own catch phrase too if she is so witty.

I just got done officiating 3 soccer games and couldn't wait to get to my computer to see what Fant Nik had to offer up. Nothing. Cat must have her tongue. Or maybe since she loves her blogs so much she started her own site and is busy talking to herself - she can go blog herself anytime she wants, if it keeps her off of here. Hi Mike,

Just checking in on my favorite blog site. Where or where have the other Fants been? I was with Fant Nik again today for a few hours and I'm exhausted from trying to stay awake from her stories...they are just so...boring is the only word that comes to mind. I guess I don't have any interest in her telling me about soup she makes or how much laundry she has or that she is going out to dinner and needs to get home to shower. I offered her my cell phone to call someone that cares but she didn't get the hint. I hope she looks nice and clean and is having a good meal somewhere, with someone who will listen with a smile. Anyone as long as it isn't me. I wonder if Fant Kim is stuck in her condo with no wireless connection - can't wait until she gets back from Myrtle so I can start using the pencil that she got me. Woohoo and yippee!

It is hard to watch my son go through so much pain both physically and emtionally. He has worked so hard up to this point. Now that he is home, he seems to have more time to reflect on what has happened and what he has to overcome. Today was a tough day. His legs are so tight and uncomfortable. We stretch and stretch him so much to try to help but with little relief. We took him to the YMCA pool tonight. We thought it would feel good on his body. It was nice because Vinnie happened to be there and stayed and helped us get Mike in the pool. Well, it wasn't as good as we had hoped. Michael was really discouraged and frustrated. It is hard having to see him suffer like this. I am sooooooooo angry at the people who did this to Mike, our whole family and community. I only hope that when they wake up every morning they think about all the pain and suffering Mike is going through and the rest of us are going through with him as well. Thanks for everyone's support. We need all of you now more than ever. The only time Mike seems to be happy anymore is when we have a house full of people. Mike, I love you so much. Just know that. I would do anything to make you better and not have to go through this.

Mikey, Tonight was the saddest I've ever seen you through this, but I still felt so good after leaving you tonight. I was thinking to myself, Kristin you are being so selfish, you should not feel happy right now if he's feeling so down, but then I realized that you really have an amazing way of making the people around you feel so good and feel like a better person. Even though you may feel discouraged, please remember that you make everyone around you feel so great, even at your worst you are able to make people feel at their best- not many people have that impact on others. Matt and I loved spending the entire night with you- just talking, laughing, relaxing and watching a movie, things that seem so simple to others, but it was such an amazing night for us. Please never give up and know that so many people are behind you through this, no matter how long it takes- you will always have a house full of people there who love you so much! I love you so much and never stop believing!!!!!!!!

I am sitting here on the computer feeling helpless.My mother and mother in-law are comforting Michael as he lays in bed with pain in his legs.We can not imagine Michael being hundreds of miles away with out the comfort of grandmothers.I will go to bed crying will Michael saying,"Maybe this pain is a good sign."

I was glad I was able to be there and help you with your first experience in a pool, But it hurt to see you so upset and sad afterwards. Mike, right now everything is new (being home) and its going to take time to adjust to everything, not only for you but your family also. But don't forget, YOUR NOT ALONE!!! The support you receive from your family and friends and your hard work and determination will get you out of this rut. Michael, I was also pleasantly surprised to see the picture of you standing- you have made so much progress. I am so proud of you! Mike, you must always know that your world is nowhere near over. You have many more goals to achieve and lives to touch. Please know that even though we may not be right there with you we are ALWAYS thinking about you. My mom and I have been talking about you all day!: )

You are always in our prayers and we are always thinking about ways to help you get your life back. You will walk again. You will get to Baltimore and get the rehab that you need. It's not a question of if, it's just a question of when. There will be difficult days when you just want to stop pushing yourself but you must BELIEVE that tomorrow will come and give you another day to fight. I just spoke with Nanny who keeps me updated on your progress. I want you to know that it is ok to have peaks and valleys. I finally have my heart rate at a normal level it took a few hours after I left your house this afternoon. What an eventful start of the day!!! Gramma Joy I hope you are OK. I hate that ab chair!!!!!!!I hope the keys are found!!!Let me know when I will be allowed back over, Thank Nanny for throwing me under the bus to the other fants. What up Mike Bliss?

I'm just getting home from Fant Nik's house. I stopped there after my soccer game to watch American Idol, eat a few tater tots, have some tea and brush the hair of Sami, Matti and Toni. Good times.
I was gonna rip on my sisters (other fants) but ya know what...I don't feel much like it tonight. Just kidding...yes I do. Sounds like Fant Nik wore out her welcome breaking Gramma Joy's nose. Fant Nik doesn't really know how to do much except drive that big ole bus around and pick stuff up, drop little people off so I wouldn't ask her to help with much as she is not capable. Did she ever tell you that she threw up in the pool at Arcadia? Just wondered.
Fant Kim...now what is her story? Her blog wasn't that memorable so I don't even know how to comment. Something about how she buys you crap from Myrtle and that makes her your favorite fant. Go ARMY! Go NAVY! Go Corona! Go Crab Shack! What?! I got some crap too...does that make her my favorite sister?

Anyway Mike...hope you had a good day. Hope your Gramma Joy's nose is alright - Fant Nik is a clutz but she can cook pretty well.

I hope everyone knows we are just pulling Fant Nik's leg(although there were no witnesses). Grandma was trying to close the ab roller up and it snapped back in her face. Fant Nik was the innocent bystander (so they say). I wish I could blame Fant Nik for the episode Grandma and I had today when we got Michael out of bed. It was not our best transfer. Fortunately, he did not suffer any casualties. Mike was able to use the FES bike in Batavia today. It is a bike that hooks electrodes to his legs. The electrodes stimulate his muscles to contract and pedal the bike. It helps prevent his muscles from atrophing and hopefully stimulates the nerves.

Mikey- Wow, I don't come over for a day to visit and Grandma gets her nose broken? Geesh, I can't even believe it. I also can't believe Fant Nik could do such a thing-unbelievable! Just kidding Fant Nik, my Grandma is such a clutz, take it from me! :-) Today seemed like a bunch of laughs and fun which makes me so happy- I know you need a lot of laughs Mikey and you'll never stop getting them with this crazy family we have, and yes everyone who comes and visits is considered a part of our family!!!! I don't know about you but I love the fact that our family has grown so much through this- proves the point that good things can come out of what seems so bad, right?

Good luck at your first day of rehab tomorrow at Clinton Crossings- I know you are going to do amazing and start touching lives and making lasting impressions on the first day, because that is how Michael Warren Bliss plays- play hard and really show them what you are made of! First let me apologize to Gramma Joy. Unfortunately we should have warned you that Fant Nik is a danger to herself and others. Rest assured that Fant Karin and I would never break anyone's nose, so hope we are not going to be punished for this. Hope Fant night at the movies is still on. Hi, Dearest Mike...it's a semi-gloomy day here in Northern California and we all hope it means rain is in the forecast, but unfortunately, that probably won't happen. We need it so desparately and the wildfires have already begun! It's going to be a bad year. At least, the winds have died down today as they were quite fierce the past couple of days. I so much miss the rainy summer days and the lush greenery in NY. The hills here have turned brown already, even tho, people try to tell me they are 'golden'--hence, the name the Golden State. I'm not buying it...

Just talked to Nick on the phone...how I love that boy. Told him that a good movie for you 2 to rent is Charlie Wilson's War since you are both so political. My son didn't have good things to say about it, but it still is interesting and may be good for a rousing debate. For myself, I had to watch every minute...no interruptions...or I would have lost track of the plot. But, then my mind isn't as sharp (or as young) as yours, Nick's and Jeff's.

I hope your rehab is going great today and, from what I hear about you, you'll make sure that it does! Honestly, Mike, you truly amaze me and have set the standard for me rather high...don't know if I can live up to it. Whenever I am having a 'bad' day, I think of you and your brave determination and all is in perspective. You never give up and it's going to pay off before you know it. Sorry that I have been unable to tame the beast known as Fant Nik. I really don't know how she ever passed English in elementary school. I feel the need to teach her how to spell the word 'there' cause she continues to spell it 'ther'. Michael did great in rehab yesterday. I spent last night with him, and he had a good night. Today Papa and Dad took him to The Pieters Family life center. They have lots of equipment for special needs! Michael was able to use a lot of the equipment. On Tuesday, they will check out the warm water pool, and see if that will work for him. It sounds like an awesome place for Mike. Between the Batavia Y, Clinton Crossings, The Pieters Family Life Center and the work he does at home, Michael doesn't have a chance to slack off. Mike and Cherri are certainly working hard for him to accomplish all that he can towards recovery.

I hate to admit it, Fant Karin is right, I have been a lazy blogger, although she should be more worried about her own fanting skills - so far I am not impressed. I have heard rumors that Fant Nik is wearing out her welcome over there - now she's being timed and told when to leave. Hi Michael, My eyes are burning from reading all your blogs. I think I was most impressed with the fants, especially with Fant Nik. She sounds to be very much like myself, and my heart goes out to her. I also have been thrown out of places that I visit too much. It's embarrassing, but I handle it. I don't think I have ever broken anyone's nose, but I have a lot of time yet to practice. Anyhow I am told that I know your Grandma Nancy ( ask her). It seems that we both went to Guided Observation at Pinegrove school many, many years ago, with our children. I am anxious to meet her again. Perhaps she will be with you when I come to visit. We have another tie. I read on your blog from Nanny on Saturday May 24th that you were taken to the Pieters Life Center in Henrietta. My youngest son is very connected to that agency, and I have been there a few times. It has not been open too long. Every thing I read on this web site and all that I hear from Patti and the kids is so hopeful. MIRACLES ARE HAPPENING! Your strength and determination are so inspiring to all who know you. I wonder if you know how very much you are giving to all the rest of us. Every phone call I make, there has been only one person who has not heard about you ( they must h ave been in Cambodia). Good morning Mike, FYI to Mikes parents,Papa took excellent care of Mike until it came time to eat.Supposedly Mikes hotdogs were not ready so papa filled his dish and sat down to eat.We happened to notice Mike just sitting there empty plated right next to papa,we heard a lot of excuses,the best one being why let the food sit there hot, but dont worry, his new fafriends took care of him he got plenty of food and drink ! Apples dont fall far from the tree though, I can see Mikey can put away alot of food also ! I thought it was going to be papa running off with the ziplock bags, but I noticed someone else with a couple in his lap as he was leaving . Please feed Mike before you let Papa take him again ! We had a great time with you Mike, we cant wait for you to come back and hang out with us again. I know you have heard this before but I need to tell you,of everything you have been thru in the last 2 months, the spirit, the positive attitude and the sense of humor that you have is incredible. I can only hope my children grow up to be just like you. Hurry and come back to the Bay !

Mike and Cheri - I can't express what a wonderful job you did raising your children, of course, that started with Mikee. Yesterday spending the day with him, he showed a spirit and sense of humor and a good heart that comes from his soul that it is nothing short of amazing. He made everyone feel at ease and comfortable instead of the other way around. His humor started with when we got him to the Bay - he wanted to make sure he did not have "any floods going on" the Dude that he is. It was all uphill from there. Lisa P. is right - when it comes to food my mind goes blank and I promise to work on that - but Lynn picked up the slack. As far as the doggie bags go - Deb had a hard time spliting it between us. We really enjoyed the day and, Mikee, we love you. Do well on the bike tonight and hope the van purchase comes through so we can do so much more until we get you on your feet - which IS GOING TO HAPPEN!!!! Papa

Wow, look at all this fan blogging. I can't keep up with all these fant people!! I told Nanny it must be a crazy house but one filled with people who love you and care about you. It sounds like you are mastering with that bike at the gym--that is absolutely wonderful to hear. Keep yourself busy it doesn't sound like that will be too hard and also keep the faith. I met with my pastor today to pray for you and give you guidance and just keep believing that God has a master plan through all of this. You are one tough guy who has an abundance of people praying for you. I hope to try and head up there in the next couple of months during the summer with the girls and Ray. They are very anxious to see you and help you through this journey in any way we can. We love you bud!

As I sat with you last night Mikee - and thought of how your Mom and Dad have stood by you and Kelsey and Matt and of the things you said Sunday - it just overwelmed me. Here you were with your Dad and me stretching etc. your Mom had to carry on with life - taking Kelsey swimming and then there is Brownies and making sure either Mom or Dad get Kelsey from school, Dad trying to go to school and Mom working - it can't be easy by any stretch. Then Nanny comes in to help with the night shift - it is such a group effort by all and your appreciation and love for them is so obvious. Sunday, when you mentioned that your parents have been outstanding and have really stepped up - well there is stepping up AND there is stepping up, but they have gone beyond, is to say the least amazing. Evewryone loves you and will be there but cudos to Mom and Dad, Matt and Kelsey and my love to them and you.

What a yummy dinner it was tonight!!! My mom is a great cook, eh? You were such a jokester tonight ("it was light beer") and I love how you can still make us all crack up until we cry laughing through all of this. I'm begining to think that maybe everything is more of a blessing than a nightmare- maybe this all happened because God knows you of all people have the strength and determination to get through this, and he wanted you to help everyone in your life become a better person... atleast I'm trying to make some sense of this, right? I don't get my sisters. I really and truly don't and I sometimes feel like I should apologize for them. "Fanty Nik" talks to you like your 10 years old(she hangs around with kids all the time so that makes sense). I'm sure that she is going to call me and tell me that I'm "rudy toot toot" - cause that is another one of her lines. Fant Kim's "blah"g to try and get me to talk politics has failed miserably - but I will correct her on the spelling of Hillary. Wow.
I am looking forward to Fant night just as much as they are but I'm not having mini spaz attacks and I won't be giving you wee rings- that sounds a little loco to me. I'm certain that it will be good times though.

I just want to thank everyone again for everything!! I love you all from the bottom of my heart. It means the world to me. I'd like to especially thank my parents and let them know that I love them more than words could ever express. They put every ounce of their energy into my care and I am being shaped physically and mentally by them along this journey. They are truly my role models. Also, Thanks to Uncle Scott and PaPa(Hutch) for helping with trips to Batavia. Love you both very much!! Love to everyone else as well. Michael just got in bed and is ready for his big day in Buffalo tomorrow. We had a great dinner tonight thanks to the fants. We had appetizers, entrees, veges, beverages, deserts, popcorn. They covered everything. The night before Bob and Mary Rice brought us a turkey dinner. Adrianne made us dinner last week, Aunt Kim made us dinner another night, grandma another night. My friend Linda brought us a delicious chocolate cake. We have had meals every night from someone. My new and old neighbors have kept us well-fed with many meals also. Guess what, I cooked my first meal since Michael was hurt on Friday night. It seemed so strange. What a blessing friends and family are. You give us the strength to keep fighting. We love all of you.

Hey Mike, Just got off the phone with PaPa (Hutch) and Lynn. He told me about the exciting day you had meeting Kevin Everett. That is so great. He also said he took you to the Buffalo trauma center and you had a welcoming committee there. It's just so amazing the people you have touched and how many have reached out to you. I will be on the road Wednesday and hope to be there by Saturday. Can't wait to see you and your Mom,Dad,Matt,Kelsey and everyone. I also got the picture of you and Kevin and his wife and Papa. They sent it to me already. What a beautiful picture. Your Mom did a great job taking the picture. You are as handsome as ever. I hope there are more to see. I got a call from your Aunt Nikki this morning to tell me you recieved your quilt. Just so you know - my definition of a quilt is "comfort and warmth stitched together with love", and I hope you can feel all of that. Just in case you don't think of this yourself - until you can run, you can hide under it when the fants come!!!

Hi to my Momma...just so you know Mike - she does not make quilts for just anybody so that says something about ya. She loves quilting... but truth be known she is what is known as a "quilt hording whore" in quilting circles around the globe. And that cockamamey idea about hiding under it when the fants show up...that is just silly talk. Ignore that.
Also, I want to add that I had fun the other night at Fant night. I loved playing guitar hero and beating Kelsey...just kidding Kelsey - I know you won, but I'm nice to ducks.

Hi Mike, What am I ever going to do for inspiration, and interesting "Fant" stories/blogs when you are up walking and back to normal? (I know you will be.) I don't understand half of what they're talking about, but it's still funny. I'm so glad for you that you got to meet Kevin. I watched the report on 13 news last night. That must have been so special for you. You are just getting more and more famous. I wonder if you realize how many people you are inspiring with your strength, spirit and sense of humor?!

How's my favorite boy doing?? I hope everything went well tonight in Batavia with working out and getting to meet Bruce for dinner! I bet it was amazing, my dad always has so many great things to say the night after he goes to Batavia with you! I'm so sorry I have not seen you in a few days, once again its been a crazy week for me but I will be there to visit tomorrow night or Thursday! Whenever I'm feeling guilty that I have not been over in a few days, I just think about how many amazing visitors you always have to keep you busy and that makes me happy again! Even when I am not there, please know that you are always on my mind, I think about you millions of times each day and even when I'm feeling the most stressed, a sense of relief comes over me because I know that I am lucky enough to have you in my life. I feel you and your strength in everything I do, Mikey!! And I leave you with this quote I heard today...
