I went and saw Michael today I think it was his second or third rehab stint. He looked good. Its hard to watch sometimes because he was working on simple things like holding a spoon, picking up small blocks. Things we take for granted. It was very encouraging. He has a great attitude. there were a couple of times i would of threw in the towel but he persavered through the challenges. He is a tough kid. I've got a quote from someone whom I think alot of : Somehow I can't believe that there are heights that can't be scaled by a man who knows the secrets of making dreams come true. This special secret, it seems to me, can be summerized in five C's they are: Curiousity, Confidence, Courage, and Constancy, and the greatest of all is Confidence. When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicity and unquestionably. Wish I owned my own company because with your work ethic, enthusiasm, determination, and personality you would be head of the personnel dept, accounting dept, marketing dept, sales dept. Let's face it, the CEO! Keep up the hard work and that great spirit. I left a message on your cell. I'll try again this weekend. XOXOXO Fant NIk Fri, 09 May 2008 10:11:16 HI PAL, boy do i feel real dumb after reading Terrys blog! Probably at the tourist traps in Myrtle looking for a unique gift (back scratcher that says "My Fant went to Myrtle and this is all she got me") Start practicing now on how you are going to recieve her gifts - maybe she'll bring you some salt water taffy - that's pretty popular and tastes so doggone good. Good Luck with that one. Megan Fri, 09 May 2008 17:06:28 I hope you had a fabulous Friday. You were in my thoughts as always and I hope you laughed a lot today. Mom Wed, 14 May 2008 20:32:59 Tomorrow is the day. Michael is coming home. As much as we want him home, we wish he could stay long enough to receive the therapy we think he needs to continue to progress. With the help of Mike's therapists, we learned a lot of things we can work with Mike at home. He will also go to an outpt rehab facility starting next week. Everyone will have to visit us here at our house. Just call first because rehab times and days change, so we don't know when he will be here and when he won't. Thanks for everyone's support. Fant Aunts, we haven't forgotten you. We still love you. We have just been crazy trying to get things ready at home and pack up all of Michael's cards at the hospital. It took two days to pack up all of his cards. We have bracelets for everyone too. We love and appreciate everyone's support. Please don't stop now that Michael is coming home. Mom Wed, 14 May 2008 20:42:41 There will be a silent auction for a NHL Alumni Autographed Jersey on Friday, May 16 thru Sunday May 18 at ESL. You can go to the website www.napstournaments.com. Mom Fri, 16 May 2008 18:52:21 Michael was a little discouraged today. He actually misses the hospital where he got three + hours of therapy. He enjoyed feeling like he put in a good workout. We did some work here at home, but his heart wasn't in it today. Tomorrow is another day. We did go out to the YMCA in Batavia to see a special bike they have that he can use. It uses electrodes to stimulate his muscles to pedal. They also had a standing table that he was able to use. He likes the standing table because it helps with his spasms. Aunt Kim Spade Fri, 16 May 2008 19:48:21 Michael, I enjoyed our little talk on the phone, you are the most loving caring strongeset young man i have ever met, telling us how much you love us and thanking us for everything we do for you,you are so spacial and you fill my heart with happiness.I just love you Michael Bliss, you have so much to give in your life, things will get better because i wont have it any other way !!!!!!! Everyone who visits wants to help Michael with his therapy. We could not do it without everyone's support. The Fants came to visit today and they are great. Fant Kim brought Michael some great gifts from Myrtle Beach. He looks like a tourist with his new shirts, sweats, and sharktooth necklace. Mike's new Funcle Vinnie got up early this morning and built Michael a standing table. WooooooooooW, he is awsome. Melissa, our favorite PT student came and visited Michael. She is going to be a fantastic therapist. We have grown so attached to her. We also had many other family members and friends here with Michael. It has made the ride a lot smoother. What a great community we live in. I will never forget all that people have done for Michael and our family. I love you so much and will see you Wednesday! Fant Kim (favorite fant) Tue, 20 May 2008 08:18:54 Good morning Mike: Nanny Tue, 20 May 2008 09:48:14 Wow the past 3 days have been much better. Actually, Sunday night the meal Adrienne made (Chicken French) was the best I have ever eaten. We are thinking she should open a restaurant. Michael has been doing lots of exercises on the floor and is amazing in what he can do. Thanks to Vinnie for making the standing table. it is awesome! I missed the Fants coming over last night, but I know that was fun for Michael. I can't even begin to list all the people who have been here the last 5 days. Michael is never alone for one minute. He says he loves it - "It's like Christmas every day." I don't think anyone could ever ask for more support or love. Grandma and I stayed with him last night, and he had a very good night. Today Fant Nikki and Markie came over for a visit. Grandma and Fant Nikki were in the living room folding up a chair when Grandma ended up with a broken nose. I hope the other Fants don't find out about this. We are so blessed with all the love surrouding Michael. The man who actually owns the bike is Ricky Palermo. He uses the bike himself. He and his family are wonderful and so helpful along with the staff at the Batavia YMCA. Everyone just wants to help. I have been so touched by all the kind, caring people we have met during this horrible time. There are so many good people in this world. Lisa P. They have landed in San Diego. They rode the plane with Jerry Lewis. I guess the flight was good. Michael is ready to start his journey now. Sherie (Leeann P's Mom) Sun, 27 Jul 2008 21:38:58 I'm so glad to hear that everyone arrived safely in San Diego. That had to be so cool to be on a plane with Jerry Lewis. May God be with Michael and your entire family as he undertakes Project Walk. We are all with him in spirit and always believing. Dad Mon, 28 Jul 2008 00:30:35 We finally are settled in our hotel. It is almost 12:30 a:m. Fant Kim Mon, 28 Jul 2008 06:18:08 Good morning Mike: Fant Kim Mon, 28 Jul 2008 06:19:33 Being broken not bring broken, geez! Jo Ann Timkey Mon, 28 Jul 2008 06:31:58 Hi Mike, Adrianne Mon, 28 Jul 2008 07:37:17 Good Morning!!! Nanny/Gramma Joy Mon, 28 Jul 2008 08:56:24 Mike is at the exercise room and Michael is trying to get caught up on his sleep before he goes to Project Walk at 2PM. Joy and I have had breakfast and gone for a walk. San Diego is beautiful. The flights were good and everything is working out well. Our room is very nice and the hot breakfast buffet is great! Papa, the cookies were good. When Michael gets up and gets ready, we may take a ride to the beach. We understand it is 2 miles from our hotel. It was fun seeing Jerry Lewis on the plane. We are having dinner on Father Wheeland tonight. He stopped over to see Michael yesterday and gave him money for a dinner. Thanks Father! A special thanks to Sherie (Leeann's mom). We are sorry Michael wasn't home when you stopped over on Friday night. We so appreciate everything that everyone has done to make Michael's journey a success. Joy talked to a man at the front desk. He wants to meet Michael and tell him about some success stories that he has seen happen with people who have been a part of Project Walk. Thanks to all of you for making this trip possible for Michael and the family. Aunt Bonnie Mon, 28 Jul 2008 09:50:57 Michael, now your strength and endurance will be tested to the utmost. You are the strongest kid I know who will be able to conquer this next chapter in your life. Your family loves you and knows you will go through hurdles. The important thing is truly BELIEVE in everything you do and accomplish (as little or a lot) every day and know it is all happening for reasons (sometimes unknown to us). We have guardian angels watching out for you and you are in the best care. I love you and am so proud of you. Take one day (one moment) at a time. I will read the blogs daily to keep up on your progress. :) Bonnie (Cherri's Sister) Mon, 28 Jul 2008 09:56:43 I wanted to take a moment, as I know this is a blog for Michael, for all the readers to know what an inpiration my sister and her family have been to me! We have grown up in a very loving home and as all sisters do, we have our disagreements. But time and miles have taken our relationship a little further than I would have liked. This tragedy in our family has brought us closer and I could not be more proud of Cherri, Mike, Michael, Matthew and Kelsey as I am today. What this family has had to endure would never have been imaginable in the past. Your lives will be changed forever and you are truly better people for having gone through such a tragedy and not let it take you down completely. Families have to stay together in time of needs and times of turmoil. You truly have a bond that we should all be lucky to have. Even though I am 1600 miles away, you are in my daily (hourly) thoughts. I know Michael is strong which will make him more determined to beat this challenge. I love you guys! Aunt Kim Spade Mon, 28 Jul 2008 10:02:01 Michael, your finally there !!!!!! now it's time to work your butt off........Jerry Lewis, how cool is that.Good Luck to you today on your first day, make sure you wear your "Cool Stay dry " shirt, that i gave you, because, trust me you will be sweating.....Maybe you could go to the beach today, make sure it's the one where everyone has their clothes on.lol.I'll be thinking about you every minute of the day.Work hard, and keep your head up as high as the sky, especially while your standing on the walker......We love you Michael Bliss.xoxoxoxox Sharon Mon, 28 Jul 2008 10:47:08 OK - Who broke the blog? Fant Karin Mon, 28 Jul 2008 11:08:06 Hey Mike, Megan Mon, 28 Jul 2008 11:22:15 Michael!!!! Mom Mon, 28 Jul 2008 13:43:38 Well, it sounds like San Diego is going well so far other than the fact that Michael accidently saw one of his grandmothers naked for the first time in his life. He is not so sure he wants to go to the nude beach anymore. Also, there was a hair on the toilet seat in the hotel when they arrived that did not belong to any of them. It made Michael and his father sick , so the grandmothers had to quickly remove it. Thank god the grandmothers are there to help with such tasks. Fant Nik Mon, 28 Jul 2008 13:59:24 GO MIKE!!!!!!! You got this babe!!! Its just about 2 there so im sending some prayers your way!!! Hey gurt do you have to win ALL the time you little freak? Your Aunt said it perfect one moment at a time!!! Jordan asks about you often and sends his best wishes for a fast recovery and you are in his and our thoughts often. Positive thinking and taking one day at a time makes a big difference take it slow - we did and Jodan more than surprised us with his recovery. You are in our prayers. Aunt Kim Spade Mon, 28 Jul 2008 15:31:15 Michael, i think your dad put that hair there.....Was it a big bunch a black hair like the hair you saw in Florida........lol. It made my day! Before Mike (and all the youngun's) know it, THEY will be the gramma's and grandpa's and THEN see how THEY look. Most of us have earned every wrinkle and bump we have! He says he is tired and should sleep good tonight. I guess they really liked In and Out Burger (Thanks Melissa and grandma B for the recommendation). The only problem was the first burger came with mayonaise. Now he knows he has to request no mayonaise. It sounds like they are going to be eating there a lot. As my husband put it, "It was pretty cheap." Nanny/Gramma Joy Mon, 28 Jul 2008 20:05:11 Michael's a pin head. Actually he had acupuncture today in his scalp, and the acupunctuist suggested that we leave the pins in for two more hours, so he trained Nurse Nanny on how to take them out. I haven't decided if I will leave them in or take them out. We loved Project Walk. Michael really got his money worth. They worked him so hard, and he was really up to the task. We are so glad that we can be here and watch Michael working so hard, and we are all learning new techniques to help him with his recovery. We are also having some laughs. We are trying to decide how we can all move out here. San Diego is beautiful! Fant Nik Mon, 28 Jul 2008 20:23:50 Hey , megan Mon, 28 Jul 2008 20:32:58 I love this blog. Frandma Ger Tue, 29 Jul 2008 09:14:25 Michael, Just a short note to tell you I am praying for your success all the time. I know that you will work hard and impress everyone with your dedication. Jo Ann Timkey Tue, 29 Jul 2008 10:04:41 Hi Mike, Fant Kim Tue, 29 Jul 2008 10:22:08 Hi Mike: Mom Tue, 29 Jul 2008 11:12:57 Just wondering if Fant Kim ever takes 19 year olds over night. He is a little sloppy, while maybe a lot sloppy and likes to tease 8 year olds a lot. What do you think? Dad Tue, 29 Jul 2008 11:22:38 Fant Kim , Fant Nik Tue, 29 Jul 2008 11:32:47 Hi Mikeliss, its 2:30 here so just checkin into see whats up. Hey Dad, dont forget I have your number also.(How Rude) Well have a Super Day 2. Fant Kim Tue, 29 Jul 2008 11:41:58 I have tried the hanging up trick. Unfortunately she calls right back and says, "Hey what happened - did we get disconnected? Your phone sucks." Some people just cannot take a hint. I put the dessert recipe on the broken blog, but don't worry, there will be some waiting when you get home. And Cheri, there would have to be an exchange - I have a sloppy 19, 21 or 22 year old available. The 21-year-old is also very skilled at teasing. In fact he teased his 4-year-old cousin so much that he had to buy him a $100 Hummer bike. Let me know which one you want. Oh, hi Michael Bliss - bet you thought I forgot about you!! Love ya lots!!! Fant Kim Nanny/gramma Tue, 29 Jul 2008 12:19:01 Well here we are on day 3 of Michael's journey. Another great breakfast buffet! I can't wait for Matthew to get here. I know he will get his money's worth. By the way, for the record, Michael called his mom at 6:42PM yesterday on both her cell phone and the house phone. He did talk to Kelsey, and she told him Cherri was talking to Barb. (We hope Barb is doing well with her recovery after hip surgery. We wish she could be with us for her recuperation. She would get lots of laughs. Laughs are better than tears!) We have the record of these calls on Michael's cell phone. He will call his mom first today after therapy. We can't wait for therapy today. Michael works so hard and is accomplishing so much. I think gramma and I will have to move here, so Michael has a permanent place to stay when he comes out here. Maybe we could do a fund raiser to buy Nanny and Gramma a house in San Diego. Michael Tue, 29 Jul 2008 12:37:01 I'm working hard. Project Walk is even better than I would have hoped for. Thanks for all your love and support. I'm even having some time for laughs. San Diego is beautiful. Who wants to come with me the next time? A special kiss and hug to my mom. Love ya lots. blog ya later Aunt Janet and Uncle Bob Wed, 30 Jul 2008 06:58:52 Mike, even though we come to Rochester from Tucson and you leave for San Diego we won't take it personnely! We did enjoy our couple of visits with you and Matt. I'm glad we got to go out to dinner with you and Matt and Michelle and enjoyed meeting Josh and Rachel. I know you did enjoy the pictures of San Diego and LaJolla we showed you so kind of knew what to expect and how beautiful it is. I know we also talked about the second visit to San Diego and how we can be there to help. You already were talking about your second visit and you hadn't even left yet. That shows how positive your outlook is. We were in Albany this weekend with Uncle Jim and Aunt Barb. We had a great time but I have seen enough rain since we got in New York. I complain about all the sun in Tucson and all the clouds in New York. Can't seem to find a happy medium. Anyway enjoy that beautiful San Diego weather and we will talk to you soon. I will give you a call in a couple of days. I don't have to tell you to keep working hard because we know you will. Lots of love. megan Wed, 30 Jul 2008 08:41:50 Michael!! Carole Schultz Wed, 30 Jul 2008 08:44:47 Keep up the good work Mike. The Schultz family is always thinking about you. We love you. Mom Wed, 30 Jul 2008 09:46:38 Here comes the rain again. It sure does seem like we have had a lot of rain this year. Those huge Canadian Geese discovered they like my neighbor's yard and have settled down over there for a nap. As long as they don't come in my yard. What a mess they make and they are not afraid of anything. I should let them come in and nap in Michael's bed since he is gone. Fant Nik Wed, 30 Jul 2008 10:19:25 Hey Mike, sharon Wed, 30 Jul 2008 10:30:00 Hi Michael, sharon Wed, 30 Jul 2008 10:32:05 OOPS!! Papa Wed, 30 Jul 2008 13:09:10 Glad I got to talk to Mike today, he loves it there too. He said the two of you were enjoying the sights and the 75 degree temperature with constant sunshine. I don't know Cheryl, it seems the whole family may be moving to San Diego - We'll follow in a heartbeat. Michael every night when I talk to you, you sound so happy and positive - that I just know you are going to improve so much - work on that tightness and your breathing exercise. When you return - as Aunt Janet said they'll meet us and we'll be there Miss you. Nanny/Gramma Joy Wed, 30 Jul 2008 13:56:46 Michael had acupuncture this morning, and once again I was the designated one to remove the pins from his scalp. It's really not hard! Joy and I are on our to the shops at the beach. We are skipping out of rehab today. The boys will pick us up after rehab. Today is another perfect day in San Diego. We are having lots of laughs. I hope they have as many laughs next week when Joy and I are back home. We remain very impressed with the work that Project Walk does. We have met other clients and heard their stories. Michael seems to be ahead of most of the patients. We only need to get rid of the tone he has in his ham strings and then we will see lots of good things happening. He is working very hard to relax. He is a real winner! Aunt Kim Spade Wed, 30 Jul 2008 14:14:16 Michael, Hope your day was Big and Strong !!!!!! Im having Mom, Kelsey,Matt and Michele over for sauce, yuuuuuuumy !!! Project Walk sounds pretty impressive. I truely believe in different relaxation techniques and deep breathing. When Rob had surgery at the Cleveland Clinic they taught him some relaxation techs before surgery and also gave him a CD to listen to.. It still works. Listen intently to everything they tell you and work like hell then get to the beach feel the sun in your face and breath in that ocean air!!!! It sure sounds like you've had quite a week so far...Jerry Lewis, In and Out Burgers, Nudes, and Earthquakes.. Sounds like your all turning into real Californians!!!!What's next??? Cherri, it sounds like it's time for you to get out there but please, don't take Micheal near the border --- we know how you are!!! Remember if you need anything we're just around the corner!!! Mom Wed, 30 Jul 2008 18:36:11 Michael sounds very enthusiastic about Project Walk. I hope he gets to meet Jamie from the "Jamie's Recovery" video tomorrow. Michael's therapist at Project Walk sounds very encouraging. He told Michael that if they could get rid of Michael's spasicity he believes "The sky is the limit for Michael". I hope I don't get into trouble with Michael for telling this. He gets upset when we are too optimistic. I do believe though. You will be glad to know that it took me about 45 minutes to make it through 2 days of blogs -- YOU GO BLOGGERS! That is so cool that Michael has so much love and support from so many people. With so much heartache in this world, it certainly warms your heart to see an outpouring of love and support for such a special young man. I'm so excited to hear all the positives about Project Walk (yuck about the pins in your head though -- ouch) and that you are all enjoying San Diego. It truly is a beautiful place. I hope you can make it to the San Diego Zoo if you are able to and get to feed the giraffes. They are awesome. Thinking of all of you and keeping you in my prayers. Keep up the good work. You keep going and stay strong. Just relax and do what they say. You will soar through this. Can't wait till Josh gets there. I started to pack him already. I'm picking Kelsey up tomorrow for her pedicure and manicure. Can't wait!! Rachele is excited too. Hey Fant Nik, you keep singing. Tape yourself so we all can here it. I would love to hear you. Happy Thursday Michael, Love you lots, Hugs and Kisses, Patti xoxox Dad Thu, 31 Jul 2008 08:25:04 Michael, Nanny/ Thu, 31 Jul 2008 08:35:24 Nanny/Gramma Thu, 31 Jul 2008 08:39:59 We went to KoKo's for dinner. Michael had salmon, Mike had a steak, Joy had prime rib and I had chicken. The price was right. We were going to take Michael to the ocean, but the van was acting up. I hope it works better today or that another one is available. Michael remains very optimistic and loves the hard work at Project Walk. We are hearing good things! We can't wait to meet Jamie today. Hopefully, in the near future, Michael will be the inspiration for someone who has a spinal injury. We are looking forward to another hard day of work for Michael at Project Walk. We are so glad to be with him on this journey. We are learning techniques that we can use when he gets home. Fant Nik Buble' Thu, 31 Jul 2008 09:16:47 Hi Mike,Big Mike, Gramma Joy, and Nanny, Dad Thu, 31 Jul 2008 09:28:37 Our van has transmission problems, but we made it back to the Hotel. Barbara Sullivan Thu, 31 Jul 2008 09:50:44 Good morning, Mike...I love reading all of these positive blogs. I especially love hearing from you! I never fail to be awed by the wonderful words you and your mom/dad/grammas have for each other. So full of love and respect! After years of living together, families often times so take each other for granted...most of the time. Here's another positive aspect that has come out of the horror of your attack--you all REALLY appreciate each other! You don't take each other for granted, and I hope all of us will learn from all of you! So often the ones we love the most are the ones we do take for granted because we think they will always be here for us...we need to be sure those are the ones we DO let know that they are special to us. And your family certainly does! Thank you for sharing that with all of us and being such wonderful role models as to how families should treat and respect each other. Sharon Thu, 31 Jul 2008 11:23:02 Michael, Aunt Kim Spade Thu, 31 Jul 2008 12:38:45 Michael, Well it's 3:30 here, so your probably still at the beach.I hope both Gramm's and your Dad have their bathing suits on.I dont want anyone to get areested, because you will have to find your own ride to rehab !!!!!!! I am not sure what mountain it will be. I always loved "The Sound of Music". Perhaps we could all climb the Alps with Michael and go to Switzerland. I picture the fants dancing around all of us singing, "Climb Every Mountain" with their petticoats now that I know they are such fabulous singers. It might be pricey to go all the way to the Alps. We might have to find something closer to home. I am looking at the hill we always sled on in Durand. Any suggestions? Aunt Kim Spade Thu, 31 Jul 2008 14:19:23 Cherri, That sounds great !!!!!! I will be waiting for Michael on the top of whatever Mountain you want it to be........As long as every one has clothes on.lol.Cant wait to hear about "THE MEETING WITH JAMIE" I know somewhere out there, someone is going to fill all us bloggers in.......Michael, i will be looking forward to that call later.....Miss you, and Keep fighting the Fight......xoxoxoxo Fant Nik Thu, 31 Jul 2008 14:41:20 Hey, Fant Kim Thu, 31 Jul 2008 15:00:02 I am really looking forward to climbing that mountain but I see us more as Diana Ross and the Supremes type girls singing "Aint No Mountain High Enough". It might be hard to climb in a sequined gown and heels, but we'll do it. Just give us a date and time. Love ya lots!! Fant Kim Mom Thu, 31 Jul 2008 15:05:04 We are so excited. Michael met Jamie, our inspiration from the Jamie's recovery video. He is a great guy and was encouraging to Michael and even said a prayer for him. Cindy B Thu, 31 Jul 2008 15:37:04 How funny, my truck started having transmission problems today while I was on my way to see Barb DiMarco. Any chance that van is a GM van and does it have over 100,000 miles on it? For the first two hours, Jason, Michael's specialist, worked on relaxing and stretching Michael. We also met Jamie. He has been Michael's inspiration to come to Project Walk. Jamie is awesome. He is a pastor and prayed over Michael. Jamie and Jason both are very positive regarding Michael's recovery. The third hour Michael worked with Brian using different machines. Another good day. Tonight we had a bar-b-que at the hotel. We are meeting other people who attend Project Walk. They are all having good results with this program. We are looking forward to waiting for Michael at the top of the mountain. I hope Fant Nik, Fant Kim and Fant Karen are working on their song and dance. Aunt Kim Spade Thu, 31 Jul 2008 19:49:25 Nanny and Mom, Thanks for the up-date.Michael called me,and he seems soooo happy. He just seems so positive with his dicovery and choice he has made going to Project Walk.I knew it would be,because everyday i saw him he was on the Project Walk web-sight wathching all the video's, and he knew that was the place for him.Keep your head Michael, everything will go your way!!!!! I get my rhythm from my mother. I was wondering where the bloggers were today. I have been on several times and no additional bloggers. I am glad to see it is starting up again. Lots of good food. We had a nice time and Mom filled us in on how you are doing. We will call this weekend. I know you are pretty tired after a hard days work. Its great you got to meet and talk with Jamie. What an inspiration!! I know he was impressed with you just like everyone else. I got Kelsey a Hanna Montana tote to take on the plane. I think she really liked it because I got a great big smile. I also think Gracie loves me because she is all over me now and won't leave me alone except of course when I go to leave. That dog is nuts!!!!!! Sunday Matt,Michelle,Kelsey and Uncle Bob and I are going to Papa's and Lynn's along with Don and Judie for a picnic. Should be nice except we'll miss your Mom because of her work schedule. I am sure you can't wait for her to get there. I know she is very excited to see you and Dad and project walk. Hey we happen to have a beautiful mountain almost in our backyard. It's called Sombrero Mountain. When your ready to come to Tucson we can climb that together. Lots of room for you and your Mom and Dad and Matt and Kelsey to stay at our place. Well it's not that big but we'll make room. The only thing we are missing is the ocean. Enjoy the weekend and take in some sites. Remember LaJolla but not until your Mom gets there. Talk to you soon. Hugs to you and your Dad and your Grandma's. Love ya kid!! Nanny/Gramma Joy Fri, 01 Aug 2008 20:06:07 Another good day. Michael had acupuncture and then 3 + hours of therapy. Jason, the lead specialist was the one to evaluate him and then was to assign him to another specialist, but he is keeping him as he is so impressed with Michael. Once they get the tone down, there will be no limit to what Michael can do. Michael is working right now on relaxing and stretching out his legs. We went out for California pizza. Actually, it was pretty good. Joy and I went in the hot tub. It is so nice. We hope to get to the beach tomorrow, as it is a free day for Michael. I'm sure he will spend some of the time doing his exercises. He has come a long way in only 5 days. I can't even begin to imagine what he will be doing by August 16. We have talked to many people who have been to Kennedy Krieger, Shephard and some other places, and they all feel this is the best place. We are fortunate that we are able to be here, as I'm sure that in the years ahead all the spinal specialists will be using the techniques perfected by Project Walk. We have met a woman who is starting a Project Walk in Florida. We may be able to spend our winter in Florida. April Hoskins Fri, 01 Aug 2008 20:13:13 Hi Michael,It sounds like you are doing so well out there. I'm just so happy for you. And meeting Jamie must have been so special for you. I think God is guiding you and your where He want's you to be. Did you know that Jamie was a pastor before you went out there? So many of these blogs have me laughing out loud. I even enjoy the blogs with typos. I don't always understand some of the blogs, such as the one about your Mom and the border. What's that all about?I'm so glad that members of your "entourage" (sp?) are doing a dailey blog. Thanks to all of you. They mean a lot to all of us back here.Re: that mountain. There's also Camelback Mt. in AZ. My son and his family climbed it last summer. My 7 year old granddaughter did it without one complaint. Sounds like my kind of climb. Tamie Fri, 01 Aug 2008 20:18:27 Hi Mike. I heard about you from Leeann's Mom (my sister). I hope you had a good day today in San Diego at Project Walk and I'm so happy you got to meet Jamie. I just looked at the u-tube video and it's so amazing to see his progress. I want you to know that I am praying for you, thinking about you, and most importantly that I believe in you. I know you can DO IT. The mind is stronger than the body and from what I've heard about you, you have an amazingly strong mind. G'nite and take good care. Carlea and Steve Fri, 01 Aug 2008 20:31:51 Hey Mike Linda Servas Fri, 01 Aug 2008 20:45:12 Hi Michael, Sherie (Leeann's Mom) Fri, 01 Aug 2008 22:18:10 Mike, I wanted you to know that you will soon be hearing from Leeann on this blog. She has been on a few times and could not figure out how to write you. I'm going to take the time tomorrow to show her. Can you possibly imagine, someone younger than their parent that can't figure out how to do a blog. Come on Leeann :-) (Even her Aunt Tamie figured it out already!) You made it through week #1 at Project Walk and it sounds like things went very well for you. Enjoy your weekend with your family and rest up. Your mom and the rest of your family will be joining you soon. You have so much to look forward to. Remember -- a day at a time and sometimes an hour at a time (on those tough days) is the best way to make it through each day. We are so proud of your accomplishments. Keep up the hard work. It will pay off for you. Sweet dreams. Vinnie Sat, 02 Aug 2008 02:15:05

Just to even visit and speak to others with these kinds of injuries...it's almost something that you can't ignore, Mike. Barbara Sullivan Sat, 02 Aug 2008 12:23:24 Thanks so much, Cherri, for explaining 'tone' for me and all of us. I'm sure there is so much more involved with these kind of injuries than any of us can imagine! It must be so hard to have to live with that all the time. Michael is the one who has the physical pain, but being a parent, I know the emotional pain a parent goes through when their child is hurting! I'm so sorry! Leeann Sat, 02 Aug 2008 15:36:50 hey mike! Aunt Kim Spade Sat, 02 Aug 2008 17:44:12 Michael, I thought I would write since noone else is. Hello Bloggers...... She had so much fun with all of the Tachins and the Tachin cousins at the beach today. Sherie (Leeann's Mom) Sat, 02 Aug 2008 21:36:25 Hey Mike, what do you think? She did it. Kristin and I are going to the Park Ave. Fest.Your in my thoughts and Prayers every minute of the day, enjoy the rest of the weekend, and get ready for another STRONG week.Love to you all.....xoxoxoxox Papa Sun, 03 Aug 2008 07:44:32 Last night talking to you sounds like a repeat of the last 7 days - happy - upbeat - positive - and hopeful. Can't be a better attitude to have. All of us here can only go by how you and your Dad sound and what you tell us and so far it's good. Last night we were at Corey's graduation party and Lisa caught me walking away and walking back and forth and she KNEW who I was talking to. It was a great party and she wished you were there. Can't wait to see what the next week brings you and how much more you are going to improve. As the family crosses in the sky you must be looking forward to see your Mom and sister. Matt, Michelle, and Kelsey along with Aunt Aunt Janet and Uncle Bob are coming for a cookout today and we wish Mom was here too but maybe if she gets done with work early she'll stop over. Wish you guys could be here too. Love you and will talk to you later. Patti Sun, 03 Aug 2008 09:25:08 Hello Michael Bliss, You are such an inspiration to me. The work you are doing and the strength that is coming. I think of you every day. I want to send you some of your favorite little snacks in Josh suitcase. So Nanny and Grandma Joy let me know what he likes. Blog me sometime today. I enjoyed Kelsey so much on Friday. Did you get the pic I sent on your phone? She looked so cute in that big comfy chair with her feet soaking. Well, a spoiled day everyone deserves some in their lives. I'm starting to look at flights for when you want to go back. I e-mailed Kathyrn of NWA to see if she can get you a deal again. Cross our fingers. Your first week seems to have done you a fantastic giant step towards your walking. I'll ask Josh to take some pics on his phone to send of you working. We love you, I'll talk to you tomorrow. I have to call and make sure everyone landed there ok. Enjoy today and the beautiful sun. Love you lots, Patti xoox Nanny/Gramma Sun, 03 Aug 2008 11:35:59 Thanks for all the encouraging words from the East Coast. Today is another beautiful day in Southern California. Do they ever have a nasty day? Michael had a good night. He is working on stretching in the room with dad, but will come down by the pool in a little while to get some sun. Patti, I think Michael is all set on snacks unless you can get ice cream in Josh's suitcase. Only kidding, we went shopping yesterday and have ice cream, cones and Klondike bars. We hate going home and not being here for Michael, but we are confident that the next group to arrive will do great. By the time Michael comes home on August 16, we should all know the best techniques to use to help Michael with his recovery. We have learned that it is most important to be patient and gentle. Michael needs to teach himself to relax and let his ham strings loosen up. No more hard stretching. We have also learned that he needs to be out of the wheel chair as much as possible and on the floor relaxing his legs. When he gets the tone relaxed, he will be able to go to the next steps, whcih will be steps towards walking. Fant Nik Sun, 03 Aug 2008 12:36:37 Hey Mikey, Aunt Kim Spade Sun, 03 Aug 2008 13:27:10 Michael, hope you had a great day today...We had fun at the Park Ave. fest, alot of walking,it's only 4:30, and im ready for bed.lol.Enjoy your day today, before week #2 starts.Thank you Nanny for the wonderful Blog, it made me smile after i read it,I hope you and Mom have a safe trip home.Love to all of you.xoxoxox Haley Sun, 03 Aug 2008 14:01:42 Hey Mikey! Fant Kim Sun, 03 Aug 2008 15:21:54 Hey Mike: Papa Sun, 03 Aug 2008 15:54:17 Matt, Michele, Kelsey, Aunt Janet and Uncle Bob, Don and Judy and Lynn had a great day in celebration of their journey to San Diego. Everyone is excited to be together and we wish we could be there too, but we do know that if and when you go back to San Diego we will be there to help in any way we can. Have a great week in rehab and we are still trying to get you on the phone but you must be at the beach. We'll keep trying. Love from all of us. Mom Sun, 03 Aug 2008 16:24:52 I am taking a break from my paperwork to check out the blog. It is much more fun than work. I can't wait to get to San Diego and get a Klondike bar. One of my patients gave me a list of places we need to check out in San Diego. She talked about Seals beach where the seals come right up on the beach. I think Kelsey will get a kick out of that. I can't believe that you are eating dinner at Applebee's when you can eat dinner there anytime. I am looking forward to seeing how you have improved since I saw you last Sunday. See you soon. Love, Mom Kristin Sun, 03 Aug 2008 17:27:47 Mike- I just want to wish you a great 2nd week at Project Walk- I can't wait to hear all about what you can do by next Friday! I know you will make great strides this week just like the last! I bet mom is soooo excited to get there and I wish her and Kelsey a safe trip to beautiful CA!!! I also want to wish Grandma and Nanny a safe trip home- I bet they don't want to leave! I love you all and miss you so much! Keep workin hard Mikey! Make this another great week!!! XOXO! Barb Sun, 03 Aug 2008 18:33:29 Nanny/Gramma Sun, 03 Aug 2008 18:36:58 Gramma and I are going in the hot tub for the last time for this visit to Project Walk, but I'm sure we will be back. I think we did a good job of helping Mike with what needed to be done to make this a successful trip. We went to Old Town today and checked it out for when the rest of the gang gets here. Yes, we did end up at Applebee's. I guess we're not too adventerous. The Mexican restaurants looked good, but we will leave them for the others. We will be busy getting ready in the morning. Our plane leaves at 12 noon and Cherri, Kelsey and Josh get in at 11AM. Hopefully, we will see them when they get off the plane and can turn Michael over to them. They will leave the airport and go right to Project Walk as Michael has acupunture at 1pm, and the airport is at least 45 minutes from Project Walk. We will be anxious to get a report from them every day regarding Michael's progress. It was a fast week for us. I'm sure the next two won't go by as fast for us waiting for our loved ones to return from San Diego. Barb Sun, 03 Aug 2008 18:41:59 Hi Mikey, Mike, Joy and Nanny, megan Sun, 03 Aug 2008 18:46:57 Hey Michael!! Now you get to show off your "stuff" to the next wave of family and friends. They will be so happy to see you and so excited to see your accomplishments. You keep relaxing, stretching, and taking extra good care of yourself. That positive attitude will get you everywhere. Sweet Dreams and safe traveling to all. Fant Karin Mon, 04 Aug 2008 20:20:11 Hey Mike and family, Aunt Kim Spade Mon, 04 Aug 2008 20:28:02 "Good Night" to everyone....Love to you all...... Mom Mon, 04 Aug 2008 20:47:50 We arrived in San Diego and had enough time to stop at the hotel to get a bite to eat. We then headed off to Project Walk for Michael's therapy. I got to see exactly what they do different with the stretching. Basically, it is all about patience and not fighting with the tone. The therapist holds Michael's legs with gentle force and lets the force guide his legs. He also teaches Michael to take deep breaths and relax while he is stretching. His muscles do relax much better to patience. We sat outside and had pizza for dinner then had complimentary bean tacos, salad, fruit, cookies, coffee, pop, beer, wine in the lobby of the hotel. Josh and Michael's dad helped put Michael in the pool hottub. He enjoyed it. It relaxed his calf muscles somewhat. We are back to the room and I am tired from the time change. Keep blogging. Michael doesn't want to come home. mr gurt Tue, 05 Aug 2008 02:39:36 yo blissy, why would ya want to come home all your missing is the rain everyday stay in san diego!hope this week will be as good as last week we are all thinkin about you.want to say hi to big mike i am sure your glad cheri and the rest of the fam is there hope all is well!got to go to work now so have a good day blisses!!! I am truly amazed with your spirit Mike. How you want to work even thru the weekends because any day to you without therapy is wasted. We went golfing yesterday in Victor. I must admit I am a better bowler than golfer but I am improving. Of course Uncle Bob beat all of us. Now that's no surprise. I did beat PaPa at Wii bowling. Ya know how he gets so I had to knock him down a couple of pegs. I also had a great time Sunday with Kelsey. We really are bonding. She is alot of fun. I am going to send her a special blog so please make sure she reads it. Well have another good week at project walk and enjoy the beautiful weather there. I am beginning to think it's been raining just for Uncle Bob and me since we never see rain in Tucson. Love to all. Aunt Janet Tue, 05 Aug 2008 06:05:27 Hi Kelsey, I had a great time with you Sunday. Glad you had a safe trip. Enjoy your time in San Diego. I will see you again in September. Remember what our secret is and just between you and me. Aunt Kim Spade Tue, 05 Aug 2008 06:38:20 Hi Kelsey,I hope your having a good time....I know you will help Michael alot. What color did you pick for your Pedi-Mani ? I will call Michael later, and we could chat for alittle bit.Love you...xoxoxo Barb Tue, 05 Aug 2008 08:04:55 Hi MIKE! So good to hear that Mom and Kelsey made it to San Diego. I just talked to Gramma Joy and she and Nanny had a really hard time leaving you and miss you already. I hope that Chips for Bliss raises enough so that you can stay there as long as it takes!!! It sounds like they really know what they are doing and you are in the right place. I'm sure with all of us that love you and "believe," you would have enough volunteers to stay with you for the next year! Put me on the list! Keep up the good work, your determination will pay off! Enjoy the sunshine. Love you ALL! corey Tue, 05 Aug 2008 11:07:37 what's up dude, been reading this every day pretty much, glad to hear you are doing much better, keep up the work, can't wait to see you on august 17th, then I got to go back to plattsburgh, but still love you man! Mom Tue, 05 Aug 2008 11:22:45 I thought we would get him here and just be able to start working on getting Michael walking. Unfortunately, I am not a very patient person, which is what we all need to be. The therapists are working very hard to get Michael's muscles to loosen up because to try to get him walking without doing this is pointless. His muscles will just work against him. It is going to be a slow process, but I BELIEVE that with patience we will get there. Aunt Kim Spade Tue, 05 Aug 2008 11:40:40 Michael, Mike, Cherri, Matt and Kelsey,We will never stop BELIEVIN !!!!!!! Michael, never give up, give them all you got, every minute you are at Project Walk, everything will go your way, like Mom said PATIENCE is the word,we all know that.you are toooooo special for it to be any different.I pray for you every minute of the day, and your hard work and dtermination will make things better,i do BELIEVE !!!!!!! i hope to get a hold of you later, i miss you, and i need to hear your voice, you make me strong if i dont talk to you i feel like a very weak person.I LOVE YOU MICHAEL BLISS.XOXOXOXOXOXXO Dad Tue, 05 Aug 2008 11:43:14 Unfortunately, I can't believe that there is a reason for such an attack on a human being.Michael will overcome this tragedy, but it will take time.He is determined and has learned how to relax in the short time he has been here.Michael, I am proud of you. Fant Karin Tue, 05 Aug 2008 11:45:51 Hey Mike and Family, Aunt Kim Spade Tue, 05 Aug 2008 11:54:40 Mike and Cherri, Michael should be very proud to have you as parents, just being there for him,and trying to make him better.I cant understand how some one could do this to another human being either, expecially my nephew....Michael Bliss,he's one of a kind with a loving heart.it hurts me every day, but i will never stop BELIEVIN !!!!!!!! Mike, Cherri and Michael wanted us to get bumped and stay the rest of the time with them. We tried and almost got bumped on to a later flight and would have gotten a $300.00 voucher towards our next trip to San Diego. We promised Michael we will be with him on his return to San Diego and will stay as long as needed. It sure is quiet without our Bliss family. We know Matthew and Michelle are looking forward to getting to San Diego. Kristin Wed, 06 Aug 2008 04:56:31 Just wanted to share one quote with you before I leave that I just read... I'm sure this has been in one of Megan's amazing daily quotes, but I'll share it anyways! Aunt Kim Spade Wed, 06 Aug 2008 05:26:13 Michael, i like Kristin's idea of trying to reach a 1000 blogs before you come home,it shouldnt be to hard, but i want you to think of the next prize, and if i dont see gurt show up soon i'll have to give his Tic-Tacs away, ive already warned him once......Again,I love you, work your ^%$# off today.Hugs and Kisses from back home. jackie wiseman Wed, 06 Aug 2008 06:18:05 hey there michael! u are such an inspiration to so many people - i'm so proud of you. i am sure it's very hard at times but you have all these people that you know and don't know who love you and want the best for you. so much good energy will definitely bring good things to you, i have no doubt. Mom Wed, 06 Aug 2008 06:29:27 Michael worked hard again yesterday in rehab. Once again, they focused on doing a lot stretching and getting Michael loosened up. They then put him on a machine to help strengthen his quads and gluts. After these machines, they hoisted him up onto a motorized cross trainer. They have some amazing equipment. In the evening, we have been putting Michael in the hottub. Fant Nik Wed, 06 Aug 2008 07:01:27 Helloooooo, Nanny/Gramma Wed, 06 Aug 2008 08:10:15 We are sure missing all of you! We hope that mom, dad, Josh and Kelsey are taking good care of you. In a way I am sorry that your legs keep popping up all night, because I know it keeps you from getting a good night's sleep; but I understand that it is a good sign. It shows that you have lots of movement in your legs. Now we just have to challenge that movement. I went to the Greece Chamber of Commerce meeting this morning. Please everyone mark your calendars for the Greece Walk that will be on November 9. They will be raising money for the Michael Bliss Trust. Hopefully, with these next two fundraisers, Michael will be able to return to San Diego for more intense therapy. Keep working hard. We are praying for lots of good things to happen in the next 10 days! adrianne Wed, 06 Aug 2008 09:53:37 Hi Bliss Family!!! Barbara Sullivan Wed, 06 Aug 2008 10:51:57 Good morning, dear Mike...wishing you a FABULOUS day...filled with positive rehab, positive feelings, and lots of love and laughs. Melissa Wed, 06 Aug 2008 12:37:51 Hi Mike!!! Nanny/Gramma Joy Wed, 06 Aug 2008 12:53:46 I just wrote a blog and it totally disappeared before I could submit it. What is that all about? I understand Barbara Sullivan asking the questions. They are the same ones we all have. We can't look back. We need to be glad that Michael found Project Walk. I believe this is a new frontier for spinal injuries and soon it will be accepted all over the world. Project Walk has many clients from other countries coming for help. I hope someone can explain the legs popping up. I don't have a clue of why they do that, but I feel it is a good sign. Hopefully, someone with knowledge can tell us why this is happening. Now a question for Michael - Are you having as many laughs with mom, dad, Kelsey and Josh as you did with us? I have a feeling you are, but under different circumstances. San Diego sounds wonderful, both for the sunshine/weather and for what Michael is accomplishing in Project Walk. We could sure use some of that sunshine here and maybe something similar to Project Walk here in Rochester. Mom Wed, 06 Aug 2008 19:24:19 Hi, I want to answer Grandma Barbara Sullivan's questions to the best of my ability. Pat & Gene Preston Wed, 06 Aug 2008 19:43:18 I was talking to Nanny today and she was telling me about all the funny things that were going on in Cali while she was there. Cherrie, thanks for explaining to us lay people about Mike's spasms and what they mean. Reducing the amount of medicine Mike needs can only be a good thing. Keep up the good work Mike. You are on my mind everyday and I look forward to hearing about your progress. Chips for Bliss is only 11 days away. I'm sure the panic will set in very soon. I love April's idea about meeting the Fants on the 17th. Maybe we could invite them to introduce themselves to those who don't know them, as they are very famous now? So many people have been a part of this journey of yours. Looking forward to a visit today from Gramma Joy and Nanny. I'm sure they have lots of stories to tell me. Have a wonderful day, work hard (as you always do), keep believing, and remember how much we all love you!!!!! I have been reading the blogs daily and thanks for all the questions and Cherri for giving some great insight into Mike's injury and recovery. We will be leaving Rochester on Monday morning and headed for Chicago then Denver and back home but I will continue to read and write to all of you and give you a call. Hugs and kissses to everyone. Patti Thu, 07 Aug 2008 12:11:27 Hello Everyone!! Hope Mitch and Michelles flight was good. I miss you all. It sounds like you are doing great. Josh, thanks for the pic of you both smiling. The THUG look just doesn't cut it for me. You seem to be enjoying your stay out there with the Blisss'. I love you and miss my Golden Child very very much. Kelsey, you keep those boys in line. I bet you are enjoying the beaches. Did you get to the zoo Yet? Blog us all back, we would love to hear from you too honey. Michael, I bet you feel so blessed to have been able to go to Project Walk. You are a trooper and an inspiration to all on how to keep faith and strenghth. Mike and Cherri, Thank you for taking care of my Josh. He is the world to me and I know he is in great hands. You both are a blessing. Love to you all and I'll text later or call. xoxo Patti Nanny/Grammy Thu, 07 Aug 2008 16:31:32 I love all your people who take the time to blog. We will have to introduce everyone at "Chips For Bliss". Maybe we should all wear name tags. Fant Nik, how can you say anything bad about your 5 little angels? They are the nicest children I have ever seen, except for my grandchildren. I talked to Cherri this afternoon, and Matthew, Michelle, Josh and Kelsey are at the beach while Michael is at his rehab (recovery) program. Lauren, You really need to look into this program. Maybe, you could go when Michael goes back the next time. The therapists at Clinton Crossing are great as are the therapists at Strong, but Project Walk is only for spinal injuries; and they focus on recovery rather than rehab. Cherri met Jamie today, and they are all planning on going to Jamie's church on Sunday in Anaheim and then doing some sight seeing in that area. I'm glad Matthew and Michelle had a good flight to San Diego. I know Cherri and Mike are happy to have all their family with them. Keep Believing! Papa Thu, 07 Aug 2008 17:53:17 Appreciated your call when you landed Matt to let me know you and Michelle were ok yesterday. Wish we could be there with you all but will be the next trip out. Lynn got a call from one of managers at NuLook whose Mother-in-Law is donating 5 or 6 World Class Poker Tour Poker Chip Sets to the Chips for Bliss raffle. Her son also has a severe spinal cord injury which he received in the Service and they plan on being at the fund raiser and hope to meet you. It is truly amazing how people pull together with support and whatever help they can give when a crises happens. Mike I miss you but I know Project Walk is the right place to help loosen up those muscles so that the physical therapy can channel the muschles to move correctly. Enjoy all being together as a family and learn, learn, learn so we can help when you return. Vinnie Thu, 07 Aug 2008 18:39:56 "Nothing" is the answer to Jo Ann Timkeys question (I think) megan Thu, 07 Aug 2008 18:50:28 Hello Mikey!! Leeann Thu, 07 Aug 2008 18:52:46 hey mike, April Thu, 07 Aug 2008 19:01:03 Hi Micheal, April Thu, 07 Aug 2008 19:03:24 Okay, "I thinks so"? It's the computer, not me - honest! Aunt Kim Spade Thu, 07 Aug 2008 19:07:20 Michael, How was your day today ? I hope it was good, and i hope those muscles are loosening up for you...... I think when you get home, we have to have a class on all these new exercises you have learned,so we could all take turns having a work out session with you......That will be great, let me know the time and day, and i'll be there, with my workout clothes on, then we'll take a break and have some Tic-Tac's,and alittle bath water.....How's that sound ? Well, i will be calling soon to get the details.....I Love You Michael Bliss....xoxoxoxoxoxo P.S. I MISS YOU SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH !!!!!!! Sherie (Leeann's Mom) Thu, 07 Aug 2008 19:53:48 I'm happy to hear that the rest of the family made it to San Diego safe and sound. It must be so nice to be together, enjoying some sunshine, and to be surrounded by people who do believe and have experienced miracles themselves through hard work and determination. Fant Karin Thu, 07 Aug 2008 20:11:20 Hey Mike and Bliss Crew, Michael Thu, 07 Aug 2008 20:12:36 First off, I want to apologize to all those calls that i've missed. I just have been so busy and usually am not near my phone. Mom Thu, 07 Aug 2008 20:16:14 Michael worked hard again at Rehab. They did a lot of work today trying to loosen his hamstrings. They are preventing him from getting his legs nice and straight when they stand him. Today they put his back against his wall and put his legs out straight. They then put a flat heavy object against the bottom of his feet. The wall and the flat object his feet were against were parallel to each other. They then had him do curls and rows. His hamstrings got nice and stretched for a few minutes. We are trying to improvise the same thing in the room tonight except we don't have the equipment for him to do rows. Aunt Kim Spade Thu, 07 Aug 2008 20:17:22 This message is to Sheri,I feel for you too, for the loss of your dog.We had our poodle for 16 years, and he got out one night and we got a call from a police saying someone ran our dog over at the corner of our street. We had to go pick up our dog..It was the saddest moment in my life,I could'nt live without one, so 3 months later, i got another poodle, and when he goes i will have to deal with it again. It's Sad !!!!!!!!And i also agree with you, when i have bad days, i come to my computer and read all the love sooooo many people have for my nephew, and it always makes me feel better.I also cant wait to meet all the bloggers, maybe i will tape Tic-Ta'c all over me so every one knows who i am.ha, ha. Aunt Kim Spade Thu, 07 Aug 2008 20:37:03 Michael, you just missed another call, when you could break away from all the fun, Give me a shout.....Sweet Dreams to you,and im sending you more butterfly kisses and love from back home, that was your first call you missed from me, make sure it's the last.lol.xoxoxoxoxoxo Aunt Kim Spade Thu, 07 Aug 2008 20:38:58 Oh Yeah, make sure you dont call me tonight, the tylenol p.m.'s are kicken in,i dont even know if i could make it to my bedroom........... Frandma Ger and/or Gramcracker Thu, 07 Aug 2008 22:18:38 Hello to all of you, Karen Preston Wieme Thu, 07 Aug 2008 22:22:21 Hi again, Don T Fri, 08 Aug 2008 05:14:01 Hi Mike and the Bliss Team Aunt Kim Spade Fri, 08 Aug 2008 05:16:28 Michael, Good Morning !!!!!! I just wrote a blog, and it vanished,i hope it doesnt show up on here. Anyways, today marks 2 full weeks at Project Walk, what an amazing place !!!!!!! We will be here, to do, all your exercises that you have learned.I hope you got my message,I will try again later.Work your *&^% off today !!!!!! .Love you Michael Bliss, say hi to the Family for me.xoxoxoxo P.S. Tell Karen, how much your Aunt Kim loves to clean,go ahead you could tell her,it must be that "bath water"........ Mom Fri, 08 Aug 2008 05:40:12 I don't know how I didn't mention that Mike and I got to meet the famous Jamie from "Jamie's Recovery", yesterday. He is a very kind-hearted man. He did ride a motorcycle to Project Walk yesterday. I was telling him that I would be very nervous about him riding a motorcycle after breaking his neck less than a year ago. He explained that while he was in the hospital, his wife said that if he ever walked again she was going to get him a motorcycle. He said that motorcycles had always been a part of his life prior to the injury. Of course, when he started walking, she had to get him a motorcycle. He said it actually has helped him with his core balance. Sounds great, but Michael won't be getting a motorcycle. It would put me in the nuthouse. Aunt Kim Spade Fri, 08 Aug 2008 06:10:22 Cherri, Your up already, its only 6:00 a.m. in Cali.......Im here, could you give me a call on my cell ? And, the motorcycle thing, i dont think anyone would want to see Michael on a motorcycle, that is toooo scary for me.But i think when Michael starts walking, we should let him do something he's always wanted to do.He's worked very hard, and he deserves the world......Maybe we could all buy him his own mountain........Love to all of you, and hope to hear from you soon. Aunt Janet and Uncle Fri, 08 Aug 2008 06:22:34 jackie wiseman Fri, 08 Aug 2008 06:30:23 hello michael - it's always nice to hear from the man himself!! i'm so glad to hear you got to relax in the pool, good for you. i hope today is another good day for you and your family. Aunt Janet and Uncle Bob Fri, 08 Aug 2008 06:36:16 Hi Folks, Well here I sit another morning writting a blog to all of you and it's raining AGAIN. I am beginning to think all this rain is for me and Uncle Bob. I apologize to all. I am convinced when we leave on Monday to go back to Tucson it will turn beautiful in Rochester!! I am happy to hear Matt and Michelle (I spelled it correctly this time)are there safely. Now you are all together and that's great. Words cannot express how everyone has reached out to your family. It proves that there are far more good people in this world than bad. I know Mike you are working so hard at project walk and learning so much that everyone knows this is the right place for you to be. Take care everyone and enjoy the sunshine! Hugs for everyone. Aunt Janet Fri, 08 Aug 2008 06:39:20 Don't know why I have Aunt Janet and Uncle Bob in here twice. Must have hit entered. See all the RAIN really is getting to me!!! They can be a good thing and make the most of spending time with your wonderful family in that wonderful S.D. Knowing you, you will be doing your exercises and other techniques you are learning, whether you are physically at Project Walk or not! In the future, many years down the road even, this time together will be one of your best memories. This is something you will be telling your grandchildren about someday, and you will be one of those family stories that will be told through many generations. Hard to imagine that, huh, but true! Aunt Kim Spade Fri, 08 Aug 2008 14:56:46 Fant Kim, i just heard on the news, that John Edwards had an affair while his wife was is dying of cancer and had a baby with the woman he had an affair with. That's a democrat for you !!!!!i think we all need to move to San Diego.Who wants to get out of here with me ? fant nik Fri, 08 Aug 2008 15:15:31 HOW RUDE Aunt Kim Spade Fri, 08 Aug 2008 17:16:00 Fant Kim, im so glad i thought of #10 for you....... Kristin Fri, 08 Aug 2008 17:52:53 Just wanted to wish everyone a nice weekend in San Diego! I hope you guys get to enjoy some sunshine and sights together this weekend after a long week! Congrats to my Mikey on finishing his 2nd week at Project Walk! I bet so many of the therapists there are going home every night to tell their families about the amazing Mike Bliss they are working with and how he is progresing so fast and working so hard- I know that is what I tell everyone about you!!! Your making me proud even 1000's of miles away! I hope though that most importantly- you are making yourself proud because you definately need to be thinking that way! LOve you and miss you and can't wait to see you in a week!!!!!! xoxo and happy weekend! :) Mom Fri, 08 Aug 2008 18:21:05 Today is kind of a frustrating day. Mike woke up this morning kind of grumpy. He was up a lot during the night with his legs jumping around on him. His quadraceps are definitely looser, but his hamstrings still want to control the show. He was very frustrated today and angry at therapy. It is hard to watch. He really wanted to be further along at this point than he is. Unfortunately, until we loosen up his hamstrings we have to be patient. His acupunctuist said that if his hamstrings loosen up, he will walk. When Michael gets frustrated, he may as well not even go to therapy, because the anger gets in the way so much. When he is relaxed, he loosens up pretty good. It is sooooooooo hard to deal with all of this. jackie wiseman Fri, 08 Aug 2008 18:35:18 gosh, cheri, these are the times that i wish i knew the words to say to help. as a mom i can so relate to how hard it is to see your child suffer, and then i can only relate so far. i can tell you tho that your family is always in my thoughts and prayers. i really do believe tho that with all the love and concern for michael that he will beat this and will walk again. i believe that with all my heart. megan Fri, 08 Aug 2008 18:41:53 Hi Cheri- Aunt Kim Spade Fri, 08 Aug 2008 18:58:11 Michael, we all have bad days, my week has'nt been very good, but we need to deal with our problems, day by day.It hurts me to know that you are frustrated, but please stay strong,it will get better,i just know it !!!!! you promised me, that you will never give up!!!!! I will never stop BELIEVIN,things have to get better..... The love and support you have, keeps me going.I wish i was there for you, i feel sooooooo far from you, and it bothers me everyday.I cant be selfish, because your where you need to be.But i just need you near me.When you come home i will be there for you as much as you need me to be.I Love you Michael Bliss, enjoy the weekend, and keep being strong, you will go all the way, and i cant wait to meet you at the top of the mountain, that mountain will be filled with love.xoxoxoxoxoxo I DO BELIEVE !!!!!!! Aunt Kim Spade Fri, 08 Aug 2008 19:02:48 Cherri, do you think Michael's legs are moving around more than they did when he was home ? I dont know it just seems like he is having more problems with his legs more than he did when he was home. That sounds like that is a good sign, because they are totally doing differnt things with him there then they did here.If you could answer that, i would apppreciate it.Thanks.Love you all....... April Fri, 08 Aug 2008 20:09:52 Fant Kim, (am I allowed to call you that?)I agree with all those reasons to move to San Diego, especially after all the rain here. April Fri, 08 Aug 2008 20:10:59 April Fri, 08 Aug 2008 20:13:13 Well, I didn't mean to enter that last one. Can someone tell me why the print in my messages is so much lighter than the other bloggers'? I am so technically challenged! Frandma Ger / Gramcracker Fri, 08 Aug 2008 20:30:49 Hey, all of you Bliss people. Do you have 2 new sons, called Joshua Bliss and Mitch Bliss. Maybe Michelle Bliss is a new daughter also. Mom Fri, 08 Aug 2008 20:59:53 We are feeling a lot better tonight than we did earlier today. We put Michael in the hottub and stretched him a little. He was then able to walk across the hottub with one arm around Josh's neck and one around Matt's neck. We was able to walk across using a marching technique. He moved one leg after the other appropriately. We were very excited. Better night. Dad Fri, 08 Aug 2008 21:11:56 Michael did have a rough day today, but he will bounce back as he always does.He will never give up. He is determined to get better, but he still has to be patient. That is the name of the game,Patience. He does not have a choice,it's his only option. He needs to relearn how to walk all over again. His hamstrings are preventing him from recovering. Cindy B Fri, 08 Aug 2008 21:18:55 What great news!!!!!Keep going, your making it up that mountain at great strides!! Mom Fri, 08 Aug 2008 22:10:37 Michael just crawled across the hotel room up on all four limbs. Nanny/GrammaJoy Sat, 09 Aug 2008 09:52:50 We both got phone calls at 2AM from Matthew. I was so scared to answer the phone, as I was afraid that it was bad news. I was so happy when they told me that Michael was crawling down the hall. I then talked to Michael, and he sounded so great! I couldn't stop crying, but they were happy tears. I called Joy this morning to make sure that I didn't dream the phone call. Yes Michael, we will be with you when you go back in September. Thanks for asking us. Barb is coming with us. She will be great support for us. Mom Sat, 09 Aug 2008 10:40:06 Just curious when Mary Rice is coming down. Will you be here while we are still here. That is a hard thing to have to wait on, but it's what you have to do now and you know that. I am waiting for Nick to send me the video...may call him again to remind him. It's in much better shape. He'll be back on Monday to hook up the vacuum. Where does Patti come up with all these helpful people? We are anxiously waiting to hear from the West Coast for an update on today's happenings. When we last talked to our loved ones out there, they were at the ocean. We can't wait to hear all about their day and how Michael did today. With so many people praying and keeping good thoughts going for Michael, this has to have a very happy ending. I know we sure feel so much better today than I did when I went to bed last night. We will be working on baskets, etc. tomorrow for "Chips for Bliss". We have so many wonderful donations. It will be a fantastic event. Did Gramma Sullivan have anything to do with a package that arrived at my house for Michael today? It's from Tennesee. megan Sat, 09 Aug 2008 19:06:20 Hey Michael! Mom Sun, 10 Aug 2008 18:06:58 Today we got up early and went to Jamie's church in Aneheim which is about 80 miles away. We left at 8:30 this morning and didn't arrive at the 10:00 mass until 10:30. Our GPS sent us in circles on and off the highway. We were starting to think we wouldn't make it at all. It was a very nice church and they said a healing prayer over Michael. Jamie gave us some music cds and one of them has the song from his video. After church, Jamie and his wife, Debbie, invited us to their house for lunch. They put on a very nice lunch for us. They have 3 very nice children, Joy, David and John. Little John is having surgery on his eye tomorrow, so we will have to say some prayers for him. We enjoyed their 2 chickens, Stormy and fluffy. They could not have been more welcoming to us. Sherie (Leeann's Mom) Sun, 10 Aug 2008 18:56:06 Sounds like you had a nice day today with your family and Jamie and his family. I'm sorry to hear that you had a tough time finding the church. It can be frustrating driving around in an area you are unfamiliar with. Tomorrow is a brand new day and the beginning of week 3. We continue to keep you and your family in our prayers, and we will pray for Jamie's son as well. I pray that you have a very peaceful night's sleep. Patti Sun, 10 Aug 2008 19:23:18 Well I'm off to bed. If I can sleep, the thunder is kicking in. So happy you had a great time with Jamie and his family. We'll say a prayer for little John. You all must be tired. Week 3 will be just as progressive as the other two were. Can't wait to see you do your moves for us. This was the best decision to go to California. Michael, I know you will walk. You and Josh and Kelsey have sweet dreams tonight.(not together, LOL) I'll talk to you tomorrow. I definately think we need to think about doing the nametag thing!!! barbara Sullivan Sun, 10 Aug 2008 20:26:23 Good evening, Michael...yes, it does sound like you had a good day today. Those L.A. freeways can be tricky and the side roads off of them even trickier. My sis and I were at Disneyland in June and found that Sunday is really the best day to travel them. For some reason, they aren't as crowded and the trucks seem to take the weekends off. Nicci Scuteri Sun, 10 Aug 2008 22:18:21 IM SOOOO PROUD OF YOU!! I reallly am mike!! That video was amazingg, I definitely shed a couple tears of joy, I only wish I was there to see it in person..I'm sorry to hear that the other day was tough..EVERYONE has their bad days..and ya know what mike? I think a little anger and frustration is perfectly OK, it just shows that your a passionate person...but anyway just getting through those bad days will make it all worth while in time. Nanny/Gramma Joy Tue, 12 Aug 2008 18:34:10 Fant Kim, I have to tell you when Grumpy was very sick last year, he told me that he was going to try to send me butterflies and rainbows. I think the rainbow you saw was a sign from Grumpy that everything is going to be good for Michael. I have been seeing lots of butterflies. We are missing Michael so much and hope that everyone is taking good care of him. Gramma and I were fighting over who could do things for him when we were in San Diego. This has been a long two weeks for us. We will be glad to have everyone home, but we know that Michael will have mixed emotions about returning home when there is so much for him to accomplish. I think he has come a long way in a short time.
